Is Life a Game?

by Znethru @ 2007-06-04 - 23:09:36

Everyone talks about the game of life and in fact there is even a board game called 'the game of life' (which I haven't played yet). I once played a board game called 'Careers' where you scored points for fame, love and money having to set yourself objectives in each of the above before the beginning of the game.

A lot of people talk about this subject. Please give a considered opinion below.

Life is a very complicated game. It's not a simple roll dice game. You have to make choices which influence the direction your game goes in. It's an open ended game. It can go in any direction, depending on how you make your decisions...

Yes. I like this interpretation and can work with it. Choices certainly at every turn.

The only problem with this game is that there is no way to start over, and there are no quick fixes for mistakes made. And unfortunately, this is one game where winning and losing is most definitely a matter of life and death... :(

It is true that you can't "start over", however, take this sunny view: "Tomorrow is always the first day of the rest of your life!"...

Winning and Losing might simply mean getting a slightly better or worse salary. I think you are being too negative!

I think I'm being too negative too... But I'm in one of those moods... I know life has it's ups and downs and you can always win, no matter how bad things get... It's just a matter of patience and belief...

Maybe you don't always need to win. You might just need to 'survive' the day!

True. But isn't knowing that you've survived another day a victory in itself? Thus meaning you've won?

It could just be a 'good move' in a series of strategic moves required to gain a better position.

But again, isn't every little good move a victory in itself? Isn't every good choice made worth a little celebration?

Well, my friend it is interesting you should pose this question. I was just watching a discussion on aging. And I think the considered opinion is that it is what it is. And you can either enjoy were you're at or you can hate where your at. But, there is no do overs. But, just think what if you stayed the same made no choice, didnt move forward, backward or side ways but just stayed. How said that would be. So life is a game to imbrace and ingage in all the way. Life is a game where you can't do over but there is always different choices and journey's to take and that is the exciting part of the came of life. Hope this gives you something to chew on. Hugs

Thank you for this answer, Sheryl!

A lot of people died yesterday who will never have the opportunity to experience today so, whatever life is, enjoy it while you have it. And never lose that sense of awe at the world.
