Which fish can not only come out of the water but can also climb up a tree?
I heard this question on LBC presented by Clive Bull in the 1980's and someone phoned in saying the answer was a 'monkey fish'. (This was not the correct answer).

Mudskipper was the answer given by Mr Bull. I assume it was correct.
Must be a catfish 
The fish Periophtalmus (Amazonia), get out of the water of the mangrove and climb up on the branches of a tree ; it can see everywhere because its protuberant eyes roll about in any direction being totaly independant each other !

I remember that as being the mudskipper. trivia memory does seem to come back to one as odd moments
